What a Film Fixer Actually Does

A film fixer is the local person a visiting production hires to make a shoot work somewhere they don't know. You bring the creative, the client and often your core team; the fixer brings the territory. That means scouting and securing locations, getting the permits signed off, booking local crew and equipment, sorting transport and accommodation, and solving whatever goes wrong at 6am on a hillside.

In the UK the job overlaps with "service producer" and "location manager". The difference is scope: a fixer is the single point of contact who coordinates all of it, rather than one department. Scottish Fixer is that role for Scotland, and for the wider UK on cross-border productions. We are hired by production companies, agencies and brands. We don't own creative, we don't develop projects and we don't finance. We deliver other people's productions.

Where We Work

Scotland-wide. Day-to-day bases are Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Highlands and Skye, with regular work in the Cairngorms, Loch Lomond, Argyll, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney, the Borders and Fife. On cross-border productions we also cover the North of England and Northern Ireland, coordinating with local partners where a shoot spans territories.
